What data we collect
- Enquiry and valuation forms: your name, email address, telephone number, property address, postcode, property type, number of bedrooms, timing and any message you write.
- Landlord and management enquiries: the same contact details plus the service you are interested in.
- Technical and analytics data: pages visited, referring page, approximate location derived from IP address, device and browser type.
- Correspondence: emails, WhatsApp messages and call notes when you contact us.
We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18, and we do not ask for special category data.
Why we use it and our lawful basis
- To reply to your enquiry and provide a valuation or quote — legitimate interest, and steps taken at your request before entering a contract.
- To deliver our sales, lettings and management services — performance of a contract.
- To meet legal duties such as anti-money laundering checks, Right to Rent checks and deposit protection — legal obligation.
- To measure and improve the website — legitimate interest, and consent where analytics cookies are used.
- To send occasional market updates — consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
Who we share it with
- Our hosting and database provider, which stores enquiry data securely on our behalf within the UK/EEA or under appropriate safeguards.
- Property portals such as Rightmove and Zoopla, where you instruct us to market a property.
- Referencing, inventory, deposit protection and compliance providers, where relevant to your instruction.
- Professional advisers, HMRC and regulators where the law requires it.
We never sell your personal data, and we do not share it for third-party advertising.
How long we keep it
Enquiry data is kept for 24 months after our last contact with you, then deleted. Where you become a client, records are kept for the period required by anti-money laundering and tax law — generally five to six years after the end of the relationship.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you may request access to your data, correction of inaccurate data, deletion, restriction, portability, and you may object to processing based on legitimate interest or withdraw consent at any time.
Write to info@seymont.co.uk and we will respond within one month. If you are unhappy with our response you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
